Tips and Hints

 

I have been playing Farmville 2 since it started and I have got to level 23 fairly quickly.

There are a few simple steps to make sure that you can level up as quickly as possible.

1. When you level up, all your watered plots and trees are instantly ready to be harvested. If they are planted but not watered, they will not be ready. If you see you are about to level up, water as much as you can ready for them to be harvested. If you are planting, plant something that takes a long time to grow such as carrots, sunflowers or strawberries as these will all be ready instantly.

2. Add as many neighbors as you can. If you have a lot of neighbors to visit, you get XP each time you visit them as well as a chance at getting some fruit or crop of the ones you visit. If you fertilise empty plots you get a chance at fertiliser, a chance at water from tending a well and a chance at goods if you feed animals. The best thing in terms of being a "good" neighbor is to water trees as these take 3-4 drops of water to do yourself but as a neighbor you can water 5 trees in one visit.

3. Use your neighbor visits wisely. You will see people on your land. If the land is not watered, they will water your crops for you. If they are watered, they will fertilise them for you. If they are fertilised, they will make them instantly ready. Obviously the most helpful is for them to be instantly ready. Click on the top of their head and you will see blue squares showing which plots they are about to tend. Before you accept, make sure you use up any of your water and fertiliser to make these plots ready to harvest. If you don't have enough, you can leave the person there until you do have enough, effectively making them the same as farmhands.

4. Use your farmhands wisely. No point using your farmhands on corn or blueberries that only take a couple of minutes to grow. Also no point using your farmhands to water, simply wait until you have more water. Use your farmhands to make ready long term crops such as strawberries. Plant them, water them, fertilise them (if you have it), then get your farmhand to make them ready. Farmhands will tend 4 crop plots for you only, not trees or animals.

5. Invest your coins. Once you have enough coins, expand your homestead as soon as you can. You will be invaded by goats and have more land to plant on. Get as many plots as you can and fit them tightly together not wasting any space. Buy animals. As soon as an animal becomes a blue ribbon animal it will no longer give you milk, eggs etc. There is no point keeping these at this point as they take up your animal quota and are not worth the coins. Sell them or store them in your shed then buy new ones.

Once you have reached your maximum of animals, invest in a trough so you can get more animals. Always have the maximum animals you can have. If you can afford it, get the best breed of that animal that you can afford as these usually give double rewards. Milk bottles are an issue here and I must admit that in the beginning I did spend a little real money (not huge amounts) to buy milk bottles but it was worth it as these are hard to get. Have a couple of goats, a horse, a couple of cows and loads of chickens.

Buy more wells if you can afford it, these re-stock every so often and allow you to water all your plots and trees by the end of the day. I currently have 4 wells and 2 troughs.

6. Don't fill your farm up with clutter. Those Halloween decorations can go, all those silly scarecrows etc that you had to buy to complete missions. Ditch them. Either sell them or put them in your shed but don't let them clutter up your farm. They might look pretty but they won't make you any money.

7. Crafting. Crafting is really how you make money. Always craft up to the maximum amount of power you have. If you haven't got any fruit or crops to make something completely then make as much of one portion as you can. For instance, you almost always need flour and flower is made of wheat. Whenever you are not doing any missions, plant wheat. You will never go wrong with wheat (have I made my point lol). If you have any power left, use those powers to make flour. Other things to make are custard for the blueberry tarts, butter or lemon water. Remember that if you are making either tomato soup or lemonade that you need to have water in your inventory to make it. Visit your well before you make these. I have forgotten that so many times and used up all my water before realising I had to make soup or lemonade as part of a mission.

8.  Sell your crafts.  Selling your crafts earns you money.  The main rule here is not to sell things that are part items.  You get much more money for selling an apple scone than just apples or just flour or just batter.  Combine them to the final product.  If you don't have the final product wait until you do.  You can also sell horseshoes and cheese etc. if you find these building up.

9. Visit frequently.  Your water and crafting power comes back slowly so if you check into your farm for only 5 minutes at a time but a few times a day to water and replant you will get more items.
